Training advise for new students
Dear Member, Welcome to Petushin Martial Arts! Thank you for choosing our school for your training. Our instructors are focused on providing you the finest instruction in the area! Each member is expected to train in a safe manner, along with showing respect and courtesy to the other members. The dojo (school) is a place of self-discipline. However, new members are not expected to “know everything”, so don’t’ worry. Your main focus for the first month should just be to attend classes, enjoy your training, and keep it safe. Academy Etiquette
Martial arts have a long, rich tradition of respect and discipline. While Petushin Martial Arts enjoys a relaxed less formal approach to the teaching of martial arts, we also act with respect and discipline. We ask that our members and visitors respect our guidelines. Preparing for Class Personal hygiene is important. Keep your body clean, use deodorant. Keep fingernails to toenails cut short. The gi (uniform) shall be clean, dry and not torn. Girls should wear a clean t-shirt under their gi. No shoes are allowed on the mat with the exception of wrestling shoes.
